RPGaDay 2016 - Day 6

Source: http://www.brigadecon.org/rpgaday2016/

August 6 - Most amazing thing a game group did for their community?

Honestly I would say that any time a gamer, be they a designer or just a community member, gets sick or passes away the way that all gamers come together to help raise funds or remember the affected person is just amazing. I can't point to a single instance because it seems to pervade our community in such a positive and overwhelming way.

RPGaDay 2016 - Day 5

Source: http://www.brigadecon.org/rpgaday2016/

August 5 - What story does your group tell about your character?

The 1s. It always comes back to the 1s.

It was with my college group. We played Palladium Fantasy and our group was fighting a beast dragon. My character managed to roll consecutive 1s on multiple turns. First I lost my pole arm, then my secondary weapon, a pair of sais, and then finally I tried to use a psychic weapon, figuring I couldn't be disarmed of a mental construct. Well I rolled a 1 again and managed to lose my concentration.

The odds on 3 consecutive 1s is 1 in 8000. I guess I got "lucky".

RPGaDay 2016 - Day 4

Source: http://www.brigadecon.org/rpgaday2016/

August 4 - Most impressive thing another's character did?

During a game I ran earlier this year a player used a black hole grenade to deal with some enemies. The collateral damage was impressive, but thanks to well thought out execution none of the players were at risk and they were able to deal with a sizable chunk of the opposing forces. All of this while trapped inside a magical school.

RPGaDay 2016 - Day 3

Source: http://www.brigadecon.org/rpgaday2016/

August 3 - Character moment you are proudest of?

Razoul, a changeling psionic I had been playing had been masquerading as human for the entire campaign with only myself and the GM in the know. During a battle he was reduced to zero HPs and for the first time the other party members became aware of his true nature as a changeling when he was forced to revert to his natural form while unconscious. Even though I was unable to interact the way the revelation drove debate at the table was well worth the long term deception and masking of my abilities.

RPGaDay 2016 - Day 2

Source: http://www.brigadecon.org/rpgaday2016/

August 2 - Best game session since August 2015?

Pandemic Legacy. September. I cannot say more lest I potentially spoil things for others, but to say that both of the groups I played through the game with had fantastic reactions to that particular month cannot be understated. If you've played Pandemic Legacy Season 1 far enough you know what I am referring to, if not run out, buy it, grab some friends, and play.

RPGaDay 2016 - Day 1

Source: http://www.brigadecon.org/rpgaday2016/

August 1 - Real dice, dice app, diceless, how do you prefer to "roll"?

Real dice. Always. There are some games and some instances where real dice may not be ideal, but for me an app is a poor substitute for the physical feel and sound of rolling actual dice.

Also, it's been said that I have a dice problem ...

As I mentioned a few weeks ago I am going to replace my entire August's worth of normal posting and content for RPGaDay2016. Starting tomorrow there will be short daily posts prompted by the RPGaDay questions. As I write this I'm already halfway done with the month and expect to have the entire month's worth completed by the time GenCon begins. Regular posting schedule and content will resume in September. Hopefully this gives me a good chance to recharge my batteries and/or prep a bunch of stuff ahead, and also gives regular readers of the blog a nice change of pace with the promise of a return to form in short order. Either way, enjoy!
